RNW Annual Awards Nite 2011
We held our very first RNW Annual Awards Nite 2011 yesterday at TNCA Club. As with the tradition of RNW, it was a total success. Most of them turned up and we all had an excellent night to remember by. During this function, a lot of awards were given and they are as follows:
Best Captains by Year
Prabhu, the young and budding film director among RNW, complied an excellent video to summarize the rise of RNW as a club which was shown during the event.
I congratulate all the participants who won these awards during this function and I am going to ensure that my name is also there in that list, next year. Can't wait enough for 2012 to begin!
Best Captains by Year
- 2007 - V Sriram
- 2008 - 2009 - Anba
- 2010 - Guna
- 2011 - Bala
- First Match - Adi for his captaincy knock of 58 (59) and Ram for his excellent 4-27 haul
- Second Match - Bala for his unbeaten, match-winning performance of 55* (34) not out innings
- Third Match - Bala once again for his superb knock of 67 (59)
- Fourth Match - Viru for his maiden and match winning knock of 62 (46)
- Fifth Match - Sankar for his best spell and first 5 wicket haul in the series - 5-17
- Sankar for his excellent overall performance which included 13 wickets, @ avg. 7.53, Econ: 3.69 and strike rate of 12.29 balls
- KK for excellent performance which demoralized every other bowler
- Praveen for his terrific spin bowling which left batsman defenseless
- Bala for his usual excellent performance on the field taking the best catches in the field
- Ram - Proving everyone why he belonged in the field
- KK for his all round performance with both bat and ball.

I have to say as an short film enthusiast myself, I was both in awe and a bit jealous at the level of creativity this guy has. Kudos Prabhu!

Double Wicket Tournament 2011
Yes, you heard it right! Double Wicket Tournament 2011 is here. This year its going to be more exciting as well. After much debate and discussions, the Double Wicket Tournament or DWT as we call it is finally here. The venue is Military Grounds, Chennai (near Airport).
The tournament organizers are Pradeep and Sankar.
The tournament starts at 9 a.m. Earlier, the organizers had planned it at 6 a.m. but due to the fact that tomorrow is an all important game - India vs Sri Lanka in World Cup 2011 Finals, we all felt it might be difficult to come early after all-night partying (touchwood) :)
The current set of teams are as below:
The team fixtures is as follows:
The match rules are as same as last year with few minor modifications. I have a strong feeling that its going to be explosive! I just can't wait for Sunday to come.

Runwees Cup 2010
Friendship Series has given us a good understanding of ones' ability in bowling and batting. All those net sessions had finally been paid off. At one time during the Series, we thought we will be out of the race even before we begun.
However, the guys played well and we got back into the race by putting up some superb performance. One of the highlights of this series would be Adi's knock of 50 runs (his first fifty!) and KK's dedicated bowling. And even as a team, I think we have improved a lot. Our fielding has improved as well.
Even though we got knocked off in the Semi-finals, the way we carried on in the Friendship Series paints a true picture of how each one is committed towards their game.
On a personal front, I was unable to play some of the crucial matches in this series and that is what I regret most. Anyway, I hope that I will make myself fully available for the team and help them win more matches in the future.
With the completion of Friendship Cup 2010, we now look forward to Runwees Cup 2010. This is an internal series match which is most likely to be played in April - May. We will be shortly announcing the playing 11 for teams Runs and Wickets.

Here we come!
It was pure fun! The fresh smell of leather and the dirty smell of the kit bag. One year since my senses experienced those!
Last three weeks of nets practice has brought in new team buddies and a new angle to RnW. It looks to be a confident, talented and i must say energetic unit but i must also be candid in accepting that this team lacks the match experience. The matches could throw open a player and strip him apart, as i have found myself in that position many a times. It tests the confidence of the player. We could no more get away with that wide delivery, cannot play a single rash shot which frequently happen during Nets. We will have to bowl that extra delivery in the over and that one rash shot will cost your wicket and the day. Imagine the morale of the fielder in that scorching heat, if a 8 ball over is bowled or if 20 runs are plundered in a over. Its very easy to get 11 drooping shoulders. These are the times to watch out for!
Looking ahead for a match with this new energetic team!
